History of Donkin Fans
When the company was found in 1956, it was decided to choose a name synonymous with early Port Elizabeth history. Sir Rufane Donkin, the acting governor of the Cape Colony, named Port Elizabeth after his wife Lady Elizabeth Donkin. The Donkin name was thus chosen, and the Donkin Company was formed. Donkin Manufacturing became part of Howden in 1994, and became Howden Donkin (Pty) Ltd.
